I have heard tales of Miss Mary's my whole life, as I grew up nine miles outside of Lynchburg on the Elk River. It was my birthday wish to visit her this year and we did. It was interesting to be surrounding by a bunch of different people. North and South divided the table naturally, which was humorous and perplexing to me. Enjoyed the folks from Connecticut especially as they had never tasted the wonder of chess pie before. Very nice people overall. Server Brandon and hostess Pat were professional and tried to keep conversation flowing. The food was just like my grandma's... everything that I know and love and remember growing up on. My husband even enjoyed the squash casserole and he's not a big fan of that particular vegetable. Overall, a wonderful birthday!
Our host Diana was really sweet and the food was amazing. I would definitely come back!! It's really cool to eat in a place with so much history and learn about that history while you're eating. I left with my belly full.
Worth the trip. Dining family style so it is essentially all you can eat. You eat whatever they are serving but they offer two meats to choose from or you can eat both. If you are choosy, you might want to call ahead to check on what they are serving on that day. Reservations recommended. A little pricey compared to other dining alternatives in the area.
This was part of the Jack Daniels tour that the bachelor party and myself took. There were a couple girls in our group that over heard some of the employees here talking about why there were there females in the group. Of course, they took offense to this. Because we're all friends and were just having a good time. Really wished the employees would have kept their comments out hearing distance. This made things weird for about 15 minutes. The food here was good. And the history lesson was enjoyable. I'd go here again.
Absolutely loved Mary BoBos. The food was delicious. The service was fantastic. I felt like I was having Christmas dinner with family. Loved all the stories told during dinner. Will definitely be back.
